Skull and Bones is a multiplayer pirate game where you start as a lone pirate and progress through the levels by completing contracts alone or with up to three players. As you become more infamous, you can craft new ships, weapons and customize your character.

Despite facing delays, the game was released and players were excited. It offers a similar experience to Black Flag, with an emphasis on multiplayer, but single-player is also fun.

After encountering delays and challenges during development, the game was released on February 16, 2024 on Amazon Luna, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. Google Stadia was also planning to do the same, but that version was canceled after the service shut down. Reviews for the game were mixed.

Skull and Bones treasure map

Skull and Bones has a large map that allows for a lot of sailing and piracy. It features a fictional version of the Indian Ocean, allowing players to explore the coasts and islands of Africa and the East Indies. Since most of the gameplay involves controlling your ship, the map is quite extensive, giving you plenty of room for all your pirate activities. However, fully exploring the map will take some time. The Skull and Bones map provides a detailed overview of the area, helping you plot routes and navigate even if your in-game map is incomplete.

In Skull and Bones you can perform a classic pirate activity: following a treasure map. These maps are a little different – they’re more of a fun extra activity than something you collect. Once you figure out how to fix them, it’s easy.

where to find treasure map

You can obtain treasure maps in four ways: as a reward for completing contracts, as part of a contract you must solve, by sinking random ships, and by completing PvP and PvE events. You can only hold a few maps at a time, so try to tackle them as you get them. If a random ship has a treasure map, you’ll see it in the loot list when you look at the ship through the telescope. Boarding an enemy ship will give you a small chance of obtaining a treasure map, even if that ship does not have a treasure map.

How to solve treasure map

Solving treasure maps in Skull and Bones is easier than you think. Each map has three clues. The first clue is written, usually giving the name of the location and nearby landmarks. The second clue is a map of the game world, which you can compare to the in-game map. The third clue is a picture showing where the treasure is buried at the outpost, complete with visual landmarks.

All treasure chests are found at outposts, so you’ll need to go ashore to find them. Once you’ve figured out the general location from the map, sail to the outpost in the area. When you disembark, an in-game notification will appear confirming that the treasure is located at that outpost.

Once you reach the outpost, you’ll need to search for buried treasure using landmark images on the map. When you are about 20 to 30 meters away from the treasure, it will start to glow orange and have a pillar of light rising from the ground. Just stay close to the location and you can dig up the treasure chest.

Skull and Bones gameplay

Skull and Bones was originally described as a tactical action game set in an open world from a third-person perspective, allowing players to control a customizable pirate ship and sail the Indian Ocean in a single-player campaign or team up with up to five Players team up in player versus player games. Wind direction affects combat, and players have access to a variety of ships equipped with different weapons. Ships can be boarded and damaged, which is shown via the health bar.

Skull and Bones puts you in the role of captain of a pirate ship, responsible for navigation, combat, and crew management, much like the naval gameplay of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. There are three ship types – Navigation, Fire, and Cargo – each with unique advantages, and all 12 available ships can be customized. Keeping your ship in good condition and keeping your crew happy is crucial, as dissatisfied crew members may mutiny. If your ship sinks, you’ll respawn at the nearest pirate lair with only part of the cargo recovered, requiring you to retrieve the rest, possibly encountering other players in the process.

The game uses wind direction positioning as a strategic advantage, with different types of ships equipped with different weapons and the ability to board enemy ships. Players can also participate in treasure hunts and raid forts and settlements in the multiplayer mode “Loot Hunt.”
