Atlas Fallen Quest Guide, How to Find The Fire Oil Barrel in the City of Sun Quest in Atlas Fallen?

atlas the fallen

Atlas Fallen is an action role-playing video game developed by Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment. It was released on August 10, 2023 for Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S.

The game is developed by Deck13 Interactive using its in-house engine called “Fledge”. Unlike the studio’s previous games Lords of the Fallen and The Surge, Atlas Fallen is not a “Souls-like” game. Instead, it focuses on fast-paced and fluid combat, taking inspiration from games like God of War (2018) and the Horizon series.

However, elements from The Surge games, such as the body targeting system, are also incorporated into Atlas Fallen. The game offers three difficulty modes, of which the hard mode is specially designed for experienced players of Souls games.

Deck13 and Focus Entertainment announced Atlas Fallen at Gamescom in August 2022. The game was originally scheduled to release in May, but was later postponed to August 10, 2023 to give the development team more time to polish the game and launch it. Players who pre-order the game will receive a “Ruin Rising Pack” that includes a variety of cosmetics and Essence Stones to enhance their gaming experience.

Atlas the Fallen Quest Guide

Enter the mine

Once you’ve unlocked the way forward, it’s time to venture into the mines. Enter the mining village cave and follow the designated route. Ignore the three glowing green parts here, as they are not important.

As you turn the corner, Nyal will mention the light coming from deep within the mines. Jump down and use the “Raise” ability on the highlighted area on the ground. Eventually, you’ll discover an exotic claw and gain a new quest item called “The Spark of Corruption.” The Spark of Corruption is an ancient relic from the Age of Theros, accompanied by an Essence Stone called the Blooming Catastrophe.

Discuss plans with Arif

After thoroughly exploring the mines, return to Arif. In the center of the area you descend into, there is a blue-green totem on the ground. Use “Lift” to activate and interact with it. This totem, much like the totem on the watchtower, will create bridges and platforms that allow you to ascend back to where you started. Return to Arif and enter Liesesta. Talk to Arif and he will take you to the minaret.

Absolution Spire

Return to the Palace and interact with it, similar to how you dealt with the Spire Workers. Jump down to the sand below. Pick up the Corruption Urn that glows white from the sand. Then, take off the armor and put on nameless overalls.

Go south and climb the stairs into the room ahead. Go through the linear passage until you reach the kiln. Place the damaged artifact into the kiln. When you leave, the surroundings will turn a sickly green as the kiln decays. Re-equip your armor before heading out, and inform Graveller of recent events. To your surprise, Arif is absent, and Gravelle urges you to hurry to the throne room.

Rushing to the queen’s palace

With your back to Graveller’s location, take the stairs on the right. Keep going; you’ll know you’re on the right path when you come across two sets of stairs. Get to the top and interact with the door to trigger a cutscene.

Captain Moraes arrives, but the Queen closes his door and starts talking. She admits that she directed your caravan along the cursed route to ensure the challenge was discovered. She reveals that she is a puppet and Theros is the real mastermind.

As the bearer of the challenge, it is your responsibility to “set us all free.” Of course, you are the chosen one. The Queen surrenders and allows you to slip away to find Valery.

After the cutscene ends, approach Valery’s body and interact with it. Another cutscene ensues, after which you receive a gauntlet frame in the form of a shattering shard. It’s worth noting that the Discovery Archive transitions from “Part 3” to “Part 4” of City of the Sun. To save you some effort, let’s continue the task from here.

Return to the wilderness

Newly acquired Shattered Shards allow you to access areas that were previously chain-locked. Press up on the d-pad to crush these chains. These chains have a specific look:

The original chain was located on the left side of Valery’s body. Enter the room and smash the chain on the right. This will allow you to “raise” the totem and use floating platforms to ascend from the area.

Once you reach the top of the stairs in the walled fortifications, turn left and walk to the end. Awaiting you is a chest containing an active recipe for deactivating explosions. Turn around and walk forward until you reach the door. Smash the chains and find yourself back in the wilderness.

How to find barrels of fire oil in the City of the Sun mission in Atlas Has Fallen?

In the City of the Sun mission in Atlas Fallen, one of the challenges is to find a kerosene and use it to illuminate several Theros temples scattered across the map. The game’s guidance can be vague, as NPCs offer only vague hints about the whereabouts of oil barrels. After speaking with the High Priest, you are tasked with finding the oil barrels in the upper room of the manor and setting the temple on fire.

However, the mission marker may not provide direct information about the location of the oil barrel. To discover the kerosene, visit the first shrine and hidden library near the stairs. Interact with the oil to add it to your inventory.

Go to each temple, pour the oil, then use the interact button to light it. Repeat this process for the three different shrines in the palace, following the quest markers to guide your path. Once all the temples are lit, return to the High Priest to complete the rest of the quest.
