You can continue playing if your Hotfix 3 save is up, but you won’t be able to load today’s Hotfix 4 save until it goes live again. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Hi everyone, thank you everyone, we had an even better weekend on Steam than the first weekend, with over 850,000 concurrent players on Sunday. We don’t quite believe it, but we’re now firmly in the top 10 most popular games of all time on Steam, and we’re very grateful. Nonetheless, Hotfix #4 has arrived and it targets several crashes, bugs, flow issues, and companions who have been trying to sleep in, all details below. Beware of spoilers! Baldur’s Gate 3

Developed and published by Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third major entry in the famous Baldur’s Gate video game series. The game draws inspiration from the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing system, offering an immersive role-playing experience that combines single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes.

The game originally launched in early access on macOS, Windows, and Stadia on October 6, 2020, and will launch generally on Windows on August 3, 2023. Different from its predecessor, “Baldur’s Gate 3” uses turn-based combat, influenced by the fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons rules, creating fresh game dynamics.

The game takes players 120 years after the events of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and follows the events of Baldur’s Gate: The Fall of Avernus. The narrative is marked by branching storylines, where core story elements remain the same while player choices inject variation into the details, providing a personalized role-playing journey.

The story begins with the protagonist’s capture by the Mind Flayer and his subsequent journey through different realms, facing challenges and interacting with characters such as Raizel, Shadowheart, Astarion, Gael, Vale, and Karak. These interactions shape the narrative and choices players must make, including encountering a goblin cult that worships an “absolute” god.

“Baldur’s Gate 3” gameplay

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers an engaging gaming experience that combines elements of single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes. Players can immerse themselves in a rich role-playing adventure by creating and customizing one or more characters and assembling a party that includes computer-generated companions.

A noteworthy aspect of the gameplay is the option for players to join forces with other online players, forming a collaborative team to explore the game’s intricate storyline. Unlike previous games in the Baldur’s Gate series, the third installment introduced a turn-based combat system, as opposed to the real-time combat of earlier games.

This combat style is reminiscent of Larian Studios’ previous successes such as Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II, and it follows the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, injecting a strategic dimension into combat and Emphasis on player decision-making. With its innovative gameplay mechanics, Baldur’s Gate 3 delivers a fresh and engaging role-playing experience that will resonate with new and existing players alike.

Baldur’s Gate 3 release date

Larian Studios took an unconventional route with Baldur’s Gate 3’s release date, opting for a phased release strategy. The PC version of the game was released ahead of the PS5 version and will be available on digital platforms on August 3. PC players around the world can begin their epic journey at 8 a.m. Pacific Time and 11 a.m. Eastern Time.

This carefully crafted approach allows PC enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the gaming world before PS5 enthusiasts do. In contrast, the PS5 version has a release date of September 6th, providing different schedules for players on different platforms to participate in the game. This strategic announcement not only aroused attention and expectations, but also reflected Larian Studios’ determination to provide tailor-made experiences for players on different platforms.
