Battlefield 2042

“Battlefield 2042” is the twelfth work in the famous “Battlefield” series. It is a first-person shooting game developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. Released on November 19, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It differs significantly from its predecessor in that it focuses solely on multiplayer gameplay, omitting the single-player campaign.

The game introduces cross-platform play, a groundbreaking feature for the series that allows players across platforms to participate in battles together. However, Battlefield 2042 received mixed reviews, with critics expressing concerns about technical issues, lack of features, and significant changes to gameplay.

Players were particularly dissatisfied with the game’s performance and missing elements. The lack of a single-player campaign and the game’s failure to meet Electronic Arts’ sales expectations resulted in mixed reviews overall.

Despite these challenges, Battlefield 2042 remains an important entry in the series, showcasing both innovation and criticism in the multiplayer space.

Persistent server updates

  • Season 6 is now over and we are heading towards Season 7. As we head into the new season, we’re improving the functionality of Battlefield Portal’s persistent servers.

  • Going forward, if there is no active season in Battlefield 2042, all custom experiences created in the Battlefield portal will now benefit from server persistence for two days, which was previously unavailable.

  • During the active season, if you are a Battle Pass owner, you will still benefit from 7 days of server persistence. Allows your server to remain active for longer periods of time.

Improved aircraft gunner directional heads-up display

  • In Update 6.4, we continue to expand the directional HUD functionality included in previous game updates. With onboard player feedback, you can now see the gunner’s direction more clearly.

  • We also provide the ability to choose between Default, Traditional, Both, or disable this HUD feature in the options screen. The feature is called “Helicopter Gunner View.”

  • Default: The standard HUD of “Battlefield 2042”, the weapon barrel shows the gunner’s direction.

  • Legacy: Inspired by previous works. This shows the gunner’s pitch and yaw while using animated triangles within a larger rectangular box.

  • Both: Both elements will be visible at the same time, with one element on top of the other.

Helicopter impact point UI HUD

  • Similar to the improved options for the gunner direction HUD above, players can now choose a different reticle indicator for their impact point reticle. You can now select a cross, plus sign, circle, or disable crosshairs in the crosshair options screen.
