To get a crossbow in Modern Warfare 3: Zombies, you have several options. One sure way to do this is to complete the crossbow unlock challenge in multiplayer mode. Once you reach level 55 you’ll face this challenge, which is all about getting 50 long-range kills with the Marksman Rifle – the catch is that your target needs to be at least 38 meters away. Although a bit cumbersome, this is a guaranteed method.
If you’re up for a tougher challenge, you can try your luck by looting special treasures in level three Infested Fortresses during missions. These caches may contain crossbows, but be aware that these missions are filled with zombies, so it’s wise to team up with others.
