The presence of coral, previously thought to have been eradicated, reappeared fifty years later, attracting businesses and mercenaries regardless of its hazards. Players take on the role of “C4-621”, an augmented human under the command of Walter, pursuing a mercenary role. C4-621 illegally lands on Rubicon 3 and assumes the identity of “Raven” after stealing the license of a deceased mercenary, setting the stage for conflict and personal transformation.

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted at the development of a new Armored Core game in September 2016. A leak in January 2022 and a subsequent official announcement at The Game Awards 2022 revealed the progress of Armored Core VI. Masaru Yamamura directed the game, succeeding Hayao Miyazaki, with Yasushi Ogura serving as producer. Delays in allocating resources to the project have frustrated staff eager to contribute.
In 2018, prototyping began under Yamamura’s guidance. Notably, lead composer Kota Hoshino obtained key words from Yamamura to inject emotion and nostalgia into the game, leading to a collaborative music creation process with Onodera and Miyazawa.
