To complete the “Diamond in the Rough” mission in Disney’s Valley of Lights, follow these steps:

1. Unlock tasks:

   • After meeting Gaston in Dune Wanderer, complete the “Wild Tangled Swarm” mission.
   • Make sure you have the Scarab Key Fragment from the previous mission in your inventory.
   • This mission will be available automatically if you own the Time Rift expansion pass.

2. Start the task:

   • Visit Gaston and talk to him using the Scarab Key Fragment in your inventory.
   • Follow the Scarab Key, which will take you to Jafar’s Sanctuary in the Shimmering Dunes Wasteland area. This place is a recreation of the Miracle Cave.

3. Inside the cave:

   • Track down the Scarab Key and enter the Cave of Wonders.
   • Talk to Jafar at the hologram table. He explains that the cave is sealed by complex light puzzles that you need to solve.

4. Solve the puzzles in the cave:

   • The first door:

     • Use dreamlight magic to clear away the shards of destiny blocking your path.
     • Find an energy coil and move it to unlock the first door by lowering the ancient mirror.

     • Activate both photointerrupters.
     • First, grab an ancient mirror and use levers to position it to redirect the light.
     • For the second one, solve the puzzle by adjusting the circular piece to direct the energy to the power coil.
     • Use the live coil to unlock the second door.

5. Get the Time Stone:

   • Go through the second door to reach the Time Gem placed on the pedestal at the top of the stairs.
   • Collect time gems.

6. Exit the cave:

   • When you have the Time Stone in your inventory, instead of backtracking, exit through the sparkling portal near the stairs.

7. Mission conclusion:

   • Outside the Cave of Wonders, talk to Gaston to officially complete the “Diamond in the Rough” quest.
   • Gaston will reward you with his Coconut Loaf, and you’ll be one step closer to saving Timeless Island by completing the “Your Everlasting Reward” mission.
