From the Ashes Gameplay

Remnant: From the Ashes is a game that borrows ideas from games like Dark Souls. It’s not just melee combat; it also has shooting elements, with two guns and melee weapons at your disposal. These guns can be of different types, such as machine guns or sniper rifles, and you can add mods to them to gain additional abilities, such as teleportation. You create your own character and need to defeat tough enemies and bosses in a world that changes every time you play.

You can team up with two other players, and the game will adjust difficulty based on how many people are playing. If you join someone else’s game, you get the same rewards, but when you return to your own game, you have to go through the story all over again.

This is because each player’s world is different, with different enemies and bosses. You don’t lose items or skills when you die; you just go back to the checkpoint, and the game keeps things interesting by changing enemies each time.

Ashes to Embers plot

The story background of “Remnant: From the Ashes” is a world destroyed by an evil force called “The Root”. As a survivor, your goal is to stop the source by reaching a tower on the island at the center of the invasion. At the beginning, you’ll discover Ward 13, an underground shelter for survivors. In order to find Founder Ford, you explore the destroyed city and discover a portal called the Labyrinth. This portal allows you to travel between worlds in search of Ford.

Your journey will take you to Rom, the remnants of a civilization that sacrificed its own world to escape its roots. The Immortal King asks you to travel to the swamp planet of Kossus, kill its guardians, and bring back its heart. This would allow the king to birth a new guardian for Rom. In Kossus, you face a choice: give your heart to the King, or to Queen Iskal, the ruler of the parasitic insectoid hive mind. If you choose the latter, you must defeat the king.

Next, you’ll travel to the forest world of Yaesha, where a civil war is raging among its satyr-like inhabitants. After helping the rebels and exploring, you find Ford imprisoned and free him. In return, Ford will give you a key to activate the portal in Area 13, allowing you to travel to the tower, Area 17.

In Ward 13, you discover information that reveals that Root came to Earth as a result of a failed experiment on the human subconscious. The roots are related to one of the themes, the dreamer. Through the portal, you reach Ward 17 and confront the Dreamer. After defeating Dreamer in his own subconscious, he transformed into a giant root creature. You finally defeat the creature, ridding the dreamer of his subconscious and eradicating the source at its source.
