Overwatch 2 Update 3.71 Patch Notes, Wiki, Gameplay and More

Overwatch 2

“Overwatch 2” is a first-person shooter game released by Blizzard Entertainment in 2022. It is the sequel and replacement of the 2016 hero shooter “Overwatch”. The game was originally intended to offer a shared environment for player versus player (PvP) mode, with plans to introduce a cooperative mode, but these plans were later abandoned in 2023. The focus shifts to enhancing PvP elements. Notable changes include a reduction in team size from six to five, and several major character redesigns.

The game’s Early Access phase begins on October 4, 2022, with a free-to-play mode available on platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Full cross-platform play is a highlight, fostering a diverse gaming community. Blizzard officially released the game on August 10, 2023, and with the launch of the sixth season of “Overwatch 2”, the early access label was removed. Overwatch 2 continues to captivate players with dynamic multiplayer modes, providing an exciting and accessible gaming experience across multiple platforms.

“Overwatch 2” gameplay

Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter in which players form a team and select a “hero” from 35 characters. These heroes are divided into three categories: “Damage” for offense, “Support” for healing and buffing, and “Tank” for creating space. Each hero has unique skills, including active, passive, and ultimate abilities. The game focuses on player-versus-player (PvP) combat in a variety of modes and maps, offering both casual and ranked competitive play.

In the new version, the original six-person team has been changed to five people, minus one tank. The purpose of this adjustment is to make gameplay faster and more dynamic. The character received a visual update to show the passage of time since the first game. The game introduces a new PvP mode called “Push,” a tug-of-war format in which teams compete to control a robot to push a payload to the opponent’s side.

Overwatch 2 ditches premium modes and loot boxes in favor of a free-to-play model. The battle pass system replaces loot boxes and offers seasonal rewards, including new maps and heroes. The in-game store allows players to purchase cosmetics directly. Cross-progression allows cosmetics and progression to be shared between PC and console.

In Season 6, story-based PvE missions were added to advance the game’s story. These missions, similar to previous short-term campaigns, are free during certain seasons but can be purchased individually. Hero mastery quests have also been introduced to help players improve the skills of specific heroes. A Blizzard Battle.net account is required, and competitive skill ratings vary by platform.
