The story follows a high school student who moves back to his hometown ten years after his parents die in a car accident. He discovers that he can summon a Persona that is like a superhero version of himself. He joins a group called the Special Extracurricular Execution Squad, which also possesses Personas. They work together to fight the Shadow and find out what happened during the Dark Hour.

Fans really want a remake of Persona 3, especially after Persona 5 took the world by storm. Atlus knew this and started working on Reload in 2019. They officially announced the game in June 2023, but there were rumors about the game in April 2023 before that.

Reload closely follows the story of the original Persona 3, but updates the graphics and gameplay to make it more like the new Persona games. Shigenori Soejima helped design the new characters, and Atsushi Kitajoh produced the new music for the game. Some of the songs were even sung by Azumi Takahashi and Lotus Juice.
