Warframe Gameplay

Warframe is a free-to-play game where you control powerful combat units called Warframes. You start with basic weapons and a spaceship called an Orbiter, guided by an artificial intelligence named Ordis, who calls you “Operator.” Your main goal is to explore the Origin System.

As you play, you unlock the ability to control the Operator, the real protagonist, who can be projected out of the Warframe in what are called “transfers.” Operators have unique abilities that allow them to further transform into larger mechanical units known as Necromechs. During space combat, you use a secondary combat platform called the Archwing, which is equipped with special abilities.

The game launched in 2019 with the combat spaceship Railjack, which encourages cooperative play for up to four players. In 2021, a Railjack-focused update expanded the content and added a new skill tree for single-player play.

To complete the game, you need to complete missions selected from the Orbiter console. Junctions must be cleared to move to a different planet. Missions vary and include defeating enemies, secretly stealing data, rescuing prisoners, or defending points. Players can act alone or team up with others to perform cooperative missions.

Players gain experience and upgrade equipment through missions. As with upgrades, Mods can be added to change device properties. Players can also get Riven Mods with randomized statistics. Obtain equipment blueprints to craft new items, or players can purchase them using in-game currency or the premium currency Platinum.

Warframe is designed to be a free-to-play game with no pay-to-win elements. Most items can be obtained in the game, although using platinum can speed up the process. Players can purchase cosmetics using points or platinum, and some cosmetics are only available through in-game payments. Certain upgrades, such as the Armory Slot, can be purchased with Platinum, but can also be earned through a free bonus system called Nightwave.
