WPOI (101.5 FM) History
WPOI (101.5 FM) has a history of multiple format changes. It began as WGNB in 1961, was renamed WKES in 1974 under the religious affiliation of Moody Bible Institute, briefly transitioned to “Love 101.5” in 1997, and was renamed “Jo 101.5” in 1998, playing Rhythm Old Song.
Cox Radio took over in 1999 and launched an all-80s format in 2001, “The New 101-5 The Point”. By 2011, it transitioned to “Hot 101-5,” focusing on the Top 40/CHR. In 2023, WPOI changed its name to “101.5 The Vibe” and embraced adult R&B, marking a new chapter in its history.
