Tekken 8 gameplay
Directed by Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken 8 focuses on aggressive gameplay. Players are rewarded for being proactive rather than defensive. A new feature called the “Heat” system has been introduced, which provides chip damage, extra moves, and character-changing abilities such as heavy guard breaches.
Thermal status timer stops during active movement and prevents certain attacks from causing chip damage, promoting health bar regeneration through offensive play. Tekken 8 development
The development journey of Tekken 8 began with a trailer at EVO 2022 and was officially announced on September 13, 2022 during the Sony State of Play. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows (via Steam), and Xbox Series X/S, continuing the saga of Kazuya and Jin from Tekken 7.
Arika is responsible for ongoing development, including rollback netcode following the 2022 Tekken World Cup finals. Bandai Namco conducted closed network testing in July and October 2023 to fine-tune aspects such as balance and matching. Released in December 2023, the demo offers a taste of the game, including Story Mode, Arcade Missions, Super Ghost Battle, Versus Mode, and Gallery.
